KDM Building & Renovations is a family business based on the Gold Coast servicing South East Queensland and specialising in childcare centre builds, renovations and custom designed playscapes.

Kurt Matthes is a qualified and licensed builder with over a decade’s experience under his toolbelt.

Kurt started out as an all-rounder – building homes, commercial fitouts, kitchen and bathroom renovations, extensions etc until he discovered his passion for designing and executing high end childcare playscapes.

Kurt is able to turn even the most imaginative clients’ dreams into reality and, as a father to 2 young girls himself, interject his own expert understanding of what it is that children enjoy most in a modern playground.

With an eye for detail, a perfectionist attitude and an extensive understanding of safety requirements and standards, KDM Building & Renovations are the ideal team for creating the most impressive and highly functional facilities for your centre.

Kurt started his carpentry apprenticeship straight out of high school with his lifelong dream of becoming a Builder coming true soon after.

In his career there is not much that he hasn’t done – from kitchen and bathroom renovations to large-scale extensions, commercial fitouts, apartment renovations, decks and finally finding a passion for designing and building high end playscapes.

Kurt has always been a perfectionist and holds his work to the very highest standard.

With his wife Jesse taking care of the administrative responsibilities, Kurt created this business because he simply loves to design & create one of a kind playscapes turning simple yards into exciting worlds of entertainment and fun that will impress children, parents and educators for years to come.
